Conservation by Covering Damage Area/s with Translucent Fabric (silk gauze, polyester stabiltex, nylon net).

This method is used to stabilize severely damaged areas or the overall poor condition of a textile. The damaged areas or whole surface is covered with a translucent fabric and then joined with lines of fine threads stitches around the perimeter and along the design contour.

Before

The ground fabric was very deteriorated and in crumbaling condition. To prevent further loss, the edge of the ground was covered with a silk crepeline, secured by stitches, and the loose beads were re-attached.
